RECAP: Gluten & Allergen Free Expo - Chicago 2014

OMG. This year was epic! Last year was fun, but since all of us official GFAF Expo bloggers were mobile this year we got to see a LOT more! I'm really grateful to have come across the brands that were there. I found some good stuff! But before I throw a whole bunch of brands at you, let me know you my whole experience in photos! :-)

My girl who I've been friends with for 20 years, Sophia, went to the Expo with me. We turned it into a mini vacation! Since she lives closer to the expo, I stayed the night at her place.

We kicked it all off with a Bulls game...
...against Detroit! We came back BIG time at the end. It was exciting :-)
It was REALLY tasty. I actually bought some at the grocery store last Friday!

I also got to meet some of the official bloggers in person! It was really awesome to see them in real life after following them online for a while :-) Click their photos below to go to their blogs!

Not only did I meet bloggers while walking around, but I met a whole bunch of them at Jason's Deli for lunch!
After the expo, we headed upstairs to check into our allergy friendly room. The air was purified prior to us arriving, they stripped my bed of all synthetic fabrics and gave me some non-feather pillows.
Can I just say how much I LOVED the tv in the bathroom?? SO cool! And surprisingly enjoyable. SIDENOTE: Check out those awesome products on the counter by VMV Hypoallergenics and 100% Pure!
They also provided us with a gluten free menu for the restaurant in the hotel. VERY cool.
After we got settled, Sophia was the awesome friend she is and did my hair. She showed me how to properly use a curling iron. LOVE having girlfriends!
We donned our LBD's (little black dresses)...
And headed downstairs for a lovely dinner. The restaurant is called Sam & Harry's.
And their steak was SO. GOOD. My mouth waters just thinking of it...
On day 2, we did more sampling...
And snagged front row at a cooking show by Kitchen Craft! Seriously great cookware.
And we got to eat the food she was making the whole time :-)
I also met the #GFAFYogi
And a spicy pepper!
Last year, I was way too busy to visit Jay and Andrea in the Red Apple booth, but I made it a priority this year! I bought their lipstick after hearing about them through the other bloggers last year.
This year I made it a priority!
And THIS is a shot of all of the free stuff I got over both days! YEAH. Sweet, right? I did buy a few things, but the rest was free, folks! I actually got a lot more than this, but any doubles were excluded from the photo.

I DEFINITELY recommend going to the Gluten & Allergen Free Expo! If you have food and allergy restrictions or are just interested in eliminating certain things from your diet, this is the place for you. If you like sampling food and taking home free swag, this is also the place for you! It would be fun to do alone and have a "you" weekend and it's also a blast if you bring along a friend.

Can't wait for next year!

This is their upcoming schedule:

  • April 12-13: Atlanta, Georgia
  • September 6-7: Seacaucus, New Jersey
  • October 25-26: Springfield, Massachusetts
  • November 15-16: Dallas, Texas

Here are the rest of the shots. These are a whole bunch of different brands I tried out / saw while I was at the Gluten and Allergen Free Expo. Keep your eyes opened for some upcoming reviews!:
