Here's to 3 years

Three years ago, I received test results revealing that I'm allergic to a number of chemicals and extremely allergic to nickel. This began my journey of finding out that I have a long list of allergies. pg8_letter

The past three years have been an amazing journey... and a very difficult one. My life as I knew it was over. I could no longer freely buy ANYTHING  and I even needed to alert my doctors of the chemicals I'm allergic to.

I've come a long way, though. I've created routines and solutions that allow me to be able to sleep over at friend's houses, go out to eat, and do whichever miscellaneous activities I'd like such as fishing or riding my bike. In the begininng, I would have days that were so incredibly depressing because I felt like I couldn't make ONE move without having to watch what I was doing. I couldn't do something as simple as starting my car (because of my extreme reaction to nickel in keys) without having to figure out a way to modify it. Same with door knobs - I could no longer touch them in public places since it would be silly to stand there outside a store testing their doorknob with my nickel testing kit. Now I carry around a bandanna with me and that problem has been solved.

It's all about overcoming your obstacles and letting time pass. Sometimes that's just what it takes - time. When you develop allergies out of nowhere, you can't figure out everything all in one day. Situations will arise that you never would have thought of in a million years.

And that's why I started this blog. To reach out to the others out there who felt like me. Also, to share my solutions with others. It's been rough. But I must say.... I DO love my blog and all of my readers. You guys have helped me! I remember when my vitamins were making me sick and didn't understand what was going on. I didn't even know it was the vitamins until one of my readers who has a propylene glycol allergy told me that PG is often in modified food starch. I switched my vitamins and never felt like that again (as far as vitamins go).

And for that - I want to let you all know how much I appreciate you. You really HAVE made a difference - to me and to others. You share your stories on my blog, you share ideas, and you help each other out. How amazing and awesome is that? Incredibly awesome, if you ask me.

So, to  celebrate these past three years, I leave you with some quotes. Quotes that make me think about what I've been through and quotes that I think could help me through some of these tough times.

Again - I truly appreciate all of you and I love you to bits and pieces <3 THANK YOU.

In honor of this three year mark for me, I urge you all to share your allergy and eczema stories with each other.
