Recipe: Sweet Fruit Smoothie

I don't always feel like eating in the mornings and those mornings are PERFECT for a fresh, cool smoothie. My hunny wanted to come up with a go-to recipe that we could BOTH have, so we made a trip to the grocery store and figured it out on the fly. Usually mango is what we'd get, but since I'm avoiding gallates, it's a no-no.

We bought some sweetened almond milkĀ and also bought some bosc pears, peaches, bananas:

And whole frozen strawberries:

Um, have you ever had bosc pears? OH. MY. GOSH. They are WAY better than regular pears! We were both blown away by how sweet and tasty they were. They don't look as great on the outside as your typical pear, but trust me... do not let that deter you. You'll thank me.

So we got out the blender, poured in some creamy almond milk and began adding the fresh and frozen fruit:

And this is the result!

It was surprisingly good! The pear really brings out a crisp and fresh, yet sweet flavor. Have you ever had the thick Odwalla smoothies? It has a similar consistency. It's definitely a smoothie as opposed to an ultra-thick frozen shake.

Here's the recipe:

Sweet Fruit Smoothie

Makes 4 pint glasses

  • 16 oz. sweetened vanilla almond milk (you could substitute soy)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 bosc pear
  • 1 peach
  • 8 frozen whole strawberries

  1. Peal most of the pear skin off, remove the peach pit and add all ingredients into the blender
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Enjoy!
