When I did my last journal post, my hunny and I were smack dab in the middle of our extended Valentine's Day celebration. On the last day, he took me out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. We love the atmosphere - it's cozy, relaxed yet refined, and romantic. Not to mention the food is to DIE for.
We had some drinks...
And dined by the cozy fire...
And THIS is what I ate:
Jumbo Gulf shrimp with filet mignon, mashed potatoes and fresh green beans
It was insanely delicious and it didn't occur to me until now that there was probably butter (lactose) in the potatoes. That could explain why I wasn't feeling so hot the next day.
We had such a relaxing night, though, and it was more than I could ask for. Perfect night with the perfect person :-)
The service was even so wonderful that we left this:
In other feel-good news, I've been inspired, lately, by some bloggers who write about their skin issues and the emotional aspects of it. It's hard to put yourself out there and be vulnerable - it's brave! Who knows what sort of backlash you could get. It's also cathartic - it helps you get stuff out of your system. I've had a harder time emotionally with developing this skin condition than I'd like to admit. So, I thought I'd write about it and I wrote a post about how my confidence has been affected.
And it felt SO good.
Being able to "put it out there" on this blog, and then receiving such supportive comments from friends and other allergy bloggers just made me feel like I have this big support system. I couldn't ask for more. It's awesome :-)
The end of this week ended pretty well, if I do say so myself. My boss was so appreciative of the hard work my co-worker and I are doing that he gave us each a surprise bonus!
Can't beat that. We've been putting in extra work lately and there's nothing better than feeling extra-specially appreciated for it. I put the money toward spending time with friends, which you've got to make sure to do every now and then no matter how busy you are. Last night, I went and had a few beers with one of my good friends and I figured I'd keep the good karma going. I tipped the bartender who was waiting on us an extra $20 because I had the money and because he's always provided such good service. Why not pay it forward, right? The rest of the money was spent on a dinner my hunny and I are having with a friend tomorrow. I'm making slow-cooker BBQ chicken tacos with corn on the cob and I bought some ice cream cupcakes for dessert. I got a bunch of snacks too and the ingredients to make fresh guacamole. Looking forward to it :-)
I'm actually pretty tired, though, so I'll close this post with my favorite pages out of the March edition of W which awesomely showed up on my doorstep. I LOVE the cover, by the way. Kate Moss rocks. And I love love love the color red.
The first page that caught my eye was this Alexander McQueen ad:
I couldn't stop trying to figure out what that is dripping down her head. At first glance it looks like honey (hence the bee-themed collar), but honey always drips a bit more thickly for me... Maybe it's corn syrup? It's a really cool photo, though. And wow - the lengths models will go to for a photo shoot, You think there was a shower there?
Then there was this cool photo of David Bowie. I guess he's got a new album coming out. It's been quite some time!
My favorite photo spread in this month's mag is called "Rave New World" with photography by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Panos Yiapanis. They're bright, daring, in your face, and beautiful all at the same time:
Love 'em! You can view the rest of the photo shoot HERE.
