In late November 2012, I found out that I'm Vitamin D Deficient. Vitamin D is very much linked to the skin and my levels were low. I was at an 11 while the levels are supposed to be between 32 and 100.
This was my routine for 10 weeks:
- Vitamin D: 50,000 IU’s once a week
- Vitamin D: 1000 IU’s daily (except on the day when I take the mega one)
- Calcium Citrate: 300 mg three x’s per day (the calcium allows your body to absorb vitamin D)
When I first learned about my deficiency, I did a whole bunch of research and was a little bit hopeful that this could solve my skin allergy problems. Vitamin D Deficiency is also linked to a LOT of other problems. You can read about those here.
I wish that I had more to share with you, but I haven't seen much change :-/
For a little while, I thought I noticed an improvement in my skin's healing time, but that must have been due to some other factor because my skin still reacts the same as it always has.
ONE thing I've noticed is that I haven't gotten painful foot cramps in a while - which is REALLY nice. I'd get woken up in the middle of the night because of them; almost in tears. It would happen randomly throughout the day as well. It probably was happening 3-5 times a month, I'd say.
Other than that, I feel the same. Womp, womp. It's still a good thing that I found out about my deficiency now because it can cause problems down the road. I must look at the bright side :-)
